Beach trip 2009!

We just got back from spending two nights in Lincoln City. It was an experience, but a fun one. Let's just say that spending a couple nights at the beach with three kids is definitely quite a bit different then spending it with just the two of us! Figuring out what to pack and how we were going to fit it in our minivan was quite overwhelming. We got everything packed and David got it to fit nicely in the van with room for all three kids!

When we reached Lincoln City, we planned to go to the outlets to do some shopping. Old Navy was the only store that we visited due to three boys not cooperating. Oh well, I'm sure that saved us some money. So then we checked into our hotel and decided to go attempt to eat dinner at Mo's. Dinner actually didn't go too bad until the end, when Kaden and Nolan decided to meltdown. It was to be expected it was their cranky time and they were ready for bed. Needless to say, we got the "Double trouble" and "Boy your hands are full" comments. We paid for dinner and went on our way.

The next morning we headed down to Newport to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Evan seemed to really enjoy himself. The little guys did ok. They got a little antsy towards the end, but for the most part did really good.

After the aquarium, we headed back to our hotel. We decided to take the entire family down to the beach to go play in the sand. A 3 year old and two 10 month olds are quite a handful on the beach! Evan had a blast digging and playing on the beach. We weren't sure how Kaden and Nolan would do, but they seemed to really enjoy playing on the sand. Nolan wasn't sure at first, but then he did fine. Kaden had no problems at all and even tried to eat a few handfuls of sand (I think he did actually eat some...oops!) But then it got to be way too much of a handful and we had to get everyone back up to the room. I ended up carrying Kaden in my sling and holding Nolan and headed back up to the hotel. David and Evan were going to get everything packed up and head in as well. I carried about 40 lbs of baby back to the hotel, I was quite proud of myself!

This morning, David and Evan went down to the beach to take a walk. I stayed in the room with the babies. I think the big boys enjoyed their walk. They drew a garbage truck in the sand and saw snails on their way back. We then packed everyone up and started the trek home. We decided that it would be fun to stop by the Tillamook Cheese factory since they would be working. Big mistake! It was super crowded and when we were heading out Evan had a huge meltdown. We were as David put it "that family" Everyone was staring at us, but what could we do? We ended up leaving and heading over to McDonald's to get some lunch. Evan seemed to be doing better at that point. Then it was on the road again and we were headed home. All in all it was a pretty good trip.

  1. Sounds like a fun trip. I think you are so brave taking 2 crawlers on the sand. So fun though.
Every family has their "That family" moment. I think with twins we just may have it a little more. Heehee! Oh well. We just do the best we can right?
I love the you have your hands full comment. I just answer, I would rather have them full than empty.
    :)
Glad you had fun. Welcome home!
