Evan's due date was March 2, 2006. So I definitely wasn't expecting him 2 weeks early, especially since it was our first pregnancy. What was funny was that David and I were hoping to avoid a February birthday for Evan. Our family has a lot of birthdays in February, so we were excited that Evan was going to be born in March, or so we thought!
I think back to how that day started. I just thought I wasn't feeling good around 4:30am and debated on whether or not I should go into work. I ended up calling in and telling them I didn't know if I was in labor or not and that I might or might not be going into the hospital. David wasn't working at the time, but had a dentist appointment and debated on whether or not he should go to the appointment (he decided not to.) I ended up staying at home and calling our doctors office once they opened and they said to just stay at home until the contractions got to be about five minutes apart. I ended up waiting until they were about 3 minutes apart and decided we better head into the hospital. We got to the hospital around 1:45 pm. While I was there I was thinking this better be the real thing!! It was, and I got checked into our labor room around 2pm. I had Evan at 5:53 pm without an epidural, go me! =) Evan's whole birth experience was a good one and I look back on it fondly.
I enjoy thinking back to his birth and all the fun times that we have enjoyed as a family since then. I still can't believe he is three already. Time flies by so quickly. We have to remember to savor each moment that we have with him. Before we know it he will be all grown up!
