Two Boys & Two Hats

Evan has been sick the past 3 days with your common cold (sneezing, coughing, runny nose). Mel was home with Evan on Tuesday since it was her normal day off, she then took Wednesday off of work and I took Thursday off (we didn't want to be one of those parents that brought their sick kid to daycare.) For me, this was quite an experience as it was the first time I've been with Evan alone all day. Overall, it was not that big of a deal except that I was supposed to be working from home due to a deadline on Friday. Yeah, um, "work" is not possible when your son only sleeps for 30-45 minutes every three hours, won't stay in his swing, bouncer, boppy, play 'n pack, you-name-it, etc... for more than 5 minutes at a time ...and the people you need to talk with are 2-3 time zones ahead.

I was only able to get a very little amount of work done and was worrying about it into the evening hours. As of this writing, everything turned out alright and I shouldn't have been stressing like I was, but I learned an important lesson. Don't claim you will work from home when you have a sick infant to watch, because your child will always win out and it's not worth the stress of worrying about work too.

Anyways, by the end of the day Evan and I went for a walk around the neighborhood twice (without a stroller. Note to self: make sure you have the stroller or front back next time, 'cause Evan's gaining weight!) Here's a picture of us before going out on a walk.

Side note: Evan was feeling considerably better on Thursday than Wednesday, and much better Friday morning. The weather outside during our walks was comfortably warm. :)

Also, I congratulate and praise anyone who can stay home all day with a very young child (particularly a sick one) and get anything done around the house, whether it is house-work or work-work.

  1. Hey, Dave. How's it going? I was going through some old bookmarks in my browser and saw one to your blog. I decided to check it out again. I must say you have a very cute kid.
